Much of my work has been related to standardization of digital interfaces in the maritime domain. This has involved several different standards organizations, and the main activities have been listed below. Some of the standards are listed in the next section.
The below are standards where I was project leader or main editorial contributor. Note that some of these have been republished in new editions.
ISO/TS 23860:2021, Ships and marine technology — Vocabulary related to autonomous ship systems (Published April 2022).
ISO 28005-1 Security management systems for the supply chain - Electronic port clearance (EPC), Part 1: Message structures (2013). This will be issued in new edition in 2024.
ISO 28005-2 Ships and marine technology - Electronic port clearance (EPC), Part 2: Core data elements (2011). Edition 2 was published in 2021.
IEC 61162-450 Maritime Navigation and radiocommunication equipment and systems - Digital interfaces - Part 450: Multiple talker and multiple listeners - Ship Systems Interconnection - Light-weight ship systems interconnection (2011).
ISO/PAS 22853:2005. Ships and marine technology - Computer applications - Specification of Maritime Safety Markup Language (MSML). Withdrawn – Replaced by ISO 28005.
IEC 61162-400 series (400, 401, 402, 410, 420) Maritime Navigation and radiocommunication equipment and systems - Digital interfaces: Multiple Talker and Multiple Listeners - Ship Systems Interconnection (2000-2002). Withdrawn – Replaced by IEC 61112-450 and -460.
