Welcome to my web page. I am an expert in automation and digitalization in the maritime sector, including autonomous ship systems. This is what I refer to as maritime intelligent transport systems, or MITS in short.
Currently, I am working part time for ITS Norway on their projects related to maritime ITS, such as "Intelligent Ship Transport Systems" (ISTS) and the DYNAPORT EU project. There is more information about some of the projects I have been working on under the Experience tab.
I graduated from the Norwegian Institute of Technology in 1983 and has worked with electronics and programming for control applications since then. From 1995 I started working in the maritime sector which gradually took me into maritime single windows and other IT applications for ships. From 2010, developments I was involved in also started to include autonomous and highly automated ships. I am currently the general manager for Norwegian Forum for Autonomous Ships.
I have worked in research institutes for most of my relatively long working life, but I also have four years of experience from the maritime electronics industry. You can find more information about what I have been working with under the Competencies tab.
My work in research and in ITS Norway is very much about precompetitive technology, including standardization and cooperative knowledge building projects. The Standardization tab gives a brief overview of the main standardization activities I have been involved in.
I live and have my office in Trondheim, Norway. I do travel quite a bit, both in Europe and Asia. Also in the Americas from time to time. I have an extensive international network in my areas of expertise of which some parts are listed under the Experience tab.
